In honour of Remembrance Day, we welcome acclaimed historian and author Ted Barris to the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre for a talk on the significant contributions of Canadian airmen to the Battle of Britain during the Second World War. During the Battle of Britain, which lasted 113 terrifying days in 1940, Canadian flyers played a crucial role in defending England from Nazi attack. These Canadians — some from famous families, some straight off the farm — served in forty-seven different squadrons with twenty pilots dying in action and twelve awarded Distinguished Flying Crosses. This compelling talk will delve into the unknown stories of Canadians who answered the call during this pivotal battle, which marks its 85th anniversary this year. Coffee, tea, and treats will be provided. $10 Members | $15 Non-Members Presented by The Port Elgin Legion Branch 340 & Southampton Legion Branch 155.
