The Lake Huron Fishing Club (LHFC), founded in 1983 as a non-profit in Ontario, is dedicated to securing quality fishing opportunities for future generations. With almost 500 members, mainly from Bruce, Grey, and Huron counties, LHFC collaborates with municipalities and Bruce Power to expand its conservation efforts.
Supported by Bruce Power, LHFC's School Hatchery Program has grown from 3 to 37 schools. The club, through partnerships and thousands of volunteer hours, engages in various conservation projects, operates fish hatcheries in Kincardine and Saugeen Shores, and releases trout and salmon along Lake Huron.
Funding relies on donations and volunteer work, with the Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby contributing significantly for 35 years. LHFC is committed to preserving natural resources, protecting fishing rights, and collaborating with government agencies.
